Hi, I'm Joey
As a kid we owned acres of land with small crops for pickles, corn and a creek out the back door. But I was always bound to be a city boy. It wasn't until I bought my first house 30+ years ago that I came to realize the two could co-exist. My original plants were the double-orange lilies that still grace the corners of the plot. And a Mountain Ash tree ordered out of a catalogue and delivered in between the screen door. The tree is long gone replaced by a lovely river birch.
I consider myself a man of many talents. I sing in cabaret clubs. I am a fan of drum corps and judge marching bands. I bake a mean pie and write a witty blog. But the constant that gives me peace is my time in my garden. Each year I add more treasures. I grow more crops and make meals & desserts from the bounty. I dabbled in some landscaping with enough space for a fire pit, a curved path and a prize trellis. My plants are keepsakes from travels to California, Amsterdam, Seattle, and even my great grandfather's estate in PA to name a few. It is malleable and changes from year to year. It is resilient to the heartiest of MN winters. Even after all these years, it surprises me each spring. It is the one place that is solely mine. I am also a Virgo; an Earth sign who enjoys hands in the dirt and bare feet on the cool grass. If you are any sort of a kindred spirit, I am anxious to connect and talk shop. It can be a shared recipe, a trick for rooting a new bromeliad or just a walk down a blooming path. Let me know what we have in common and how I can help you. |
